It was a much different outcome from the first meeting of these two Valley Oak League teams earlier this season.

On April 9, Oakdale High School’s varsity softball girls defeated Kimball 10-0. Fast forward to April 30 and Kimball defeated Oakdale 4-3. Initially, the squads exchanged runs as both teams scored one run each in the third, two each in the fifth before Kimball took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning. Each team had eight hits and three errors.

Seven total hits came off the bats for the Mustangs. Morgan Wright, Marley Leighton, Raegen Everett, Bailey Peterson and Madi Bohannon each had a hit and Jaelyn Lee provided two hits. Lee also had two runs batted in and Raegen Everett drove in one. Raegen Everett pitched a complete game in the circle for Oakdale. She gave up seven hits, four runs, one walk and struck out four.

Oakdale was able to bounce back from the loss to knock off Manteca 3-1 on Thursday, May 2. Presley Barnes hit a home run to help power Oakdale to the win. It was a two-run blast for Barnes and Morgan Wright rapped out an RBI double to help secure the VOL victory. Audrey Romiti and Jayci Volonte had two hits each. Raegen Everett pitched a complete game in the circle allowing just three hits, one earned run and striking out 11 batters. With the win, Oakdale swept the Buffaloes as they blanked them 4-0 on April 11. It was also Senior Night with recognition for seniors Morgan Wright, Marley Leighton, Taylor Suarez, Raegen Everett, Bailey Peterson, Presley Barnes, Aaliyah Sesma and Abigail Rushing.

On Tuesday, May 7 Oakdale took on Central Catholic in the regular season finale. The game saw Oakdale taking the road win by a 6-3 final from the host Lady Raiders, forcing a first place tie atop the Valley Oak League as both teams finished with an 8-2 record. Earlier in the season Central Catholic defeated Oakdale 6-2 in Oakdale so the varsity squad was able to get some revenge and a share of the league title.

Friday night, the Sac-Joaquin Section will release the softball playoff schedule.
