Major League Baseball hosted its 2019 draft last week and former Oakdale High School baseball player Austin Manning was among those that heard his name called. Manning graduated in 2016 and is currently playing for the University of Southern California.
The Kansas City Royals selected Manning in the 19th round of the draft. Used as a relief pitcher in 2019 he had an ERA of 7.29 with 15 appearances. He pitched 21.0 innings, surrendering 27 hits, giving up 17 earned runs with 25 strikeouts. He joined the Trojans in 2017.
