The Ceres Seahawks swooped into Oakdale to take on the Stampede over the weekend in Cen-Cal Youth Football action. Oakdale’s Peewee team began the day with a 19-0 loss. Things did not get better as the junior varsity squad fell 38-8 to Ceres. The JV Seahawks entered the game having not allowed a single point this season, but Oakdale snapped that streak on a touchdown.
In the final game of the evening, Oakdale’s varsity boys knocked off the Seahawks in a shootout that when the dust settled, saw the Stampede come out on top, 52-20.
The varsity improved to 3-1 on the season and will travel to Manteca High School to take on the Buffaloes on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Rookies kickoff the day at 1 p.m., followed by the Peewee Stampede (2-2) at 3 p.m.; junior varsity (3-1) at 5 p.m. and varsity wraps up the night at 7 p.m.
