Members of the Oakdale Stampede youth football program became road warriors on Saturday, Sept. 24 as all three levels of the team went to Manteca and defeated the Buffaloes.
After a spirted Rookies game, the Peewee Stampede outlasted the winless Buffaloes with a 26-18 victory. The win puts them at 3-2 overall and they are currently in sixth place in the CenCal AFC standings.
Oakdale’s junior varsity boys bounced back after a difficult home loss to Ceres last week. The JV squad went into Manteca and steamrolled their way to a 42-0 shutout. Oakdale improved to 4-1 on the year and have outscored the opposition 197-50 thus far in the season. Oakdale is currently in fourth place in the standings.
In the evening’s final game, the varsity boys continued to show their dominance with a 56-16 road win over the Buffaloes, handing Manteca its first loss of the season. Oakdale has now won two straight games by 40 or more points and have a record of 4-1. Oakdale’s balance of fast paced offense and tough defense has the boys sitting in third place. The varsity Stampede has scored a league high 205 points in five games.
Next week all three teams travel to Pacheco High School to take on the Wildcats. Kickoff for the Rookies is scheduled at 1 p.m., followed by the Peewee at 3 p.m.; the junior varsity hit the field at 5 p.m. and in the finale, the Oakdale varsity kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
