Softball Program Honors Presented For Championship Campaign

In a special gathering on Monday, May 12 the softball community honored both the Oakdale High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams for their accomplishments this season. The event took place at the Bianchi Center in Oakdale. With four awards given our for each program, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved player of the Year that were voted by the team, the coaches also gave out their Coaches Award as well.

For the Junior Varsity, head coach Allison Branco announced their four recipients as sophomore Cierra Duke, honored as Offensive Player of the Year; freshman, Shayann Trent raked in the Defensive Player of the Year; Most Improved Player of the Year went to sophomore, Emery Sipe; and the Coaches Award was presented to sophomore, Scarlett Brock.

Varsity head coach Larry Loger honored his team as sophomore, Emily Greenwood took home the Most Improved Player of the Year; sophomore, Madison Hackbarth won the Defensive Player of the Year; senior, Lauren Sanders brought home the Offensive Player of the Year honor; and junior, Meghan Christel received the Coaches Award.

The Valley Oak League All League Awards were revealed as well. Making the First Team from Oakdale were Sanders, senior Melinda Koppinger, sophomores Kindra Hackbarth and Madison Hackbarth. Second Team honors went to senior Hanna Holland, and senior Rylie Pena. Sophomore Haley Fuller was named to the All-Defensive Team, while Greenwood was on the Honorable Mention list.
