An end-of-season tournament in Stockton featuring the top rec soccer squads from throughout the area saw two Oakdale teams come home with hardware earlier this month. Top photo, the Under 10 Oakdale Mustang boys went 4-0 in the District VIII rec season tournament finale, claiming first place honors. They were coached by Seth Burford with assistant Vanessa Walton. The young Mustangs beat a team from Manteca 4-2 for the championship. “If you won your league or did well, you went to represent the town,” said Coach Burford. “We won the league in Oakdale so we went, there were 11 teams in our age group.” Below, the Oakdale Savages Under 12 youth soccer team, coached by Cher Bairos, Joey Micheletti and Darren Wildenberg, placed fourth at the district finals at the Stockton Sports Complex, with final games in the tournament on Sunday, Nov 15.
