Cross Country
Oakdale’s varsity programs were busy posting 3-4 finishes from the first run of conference meets during a VOL cluster meet on Sept. 14 in Frogtown.
Oakdale’s frosh-soph girls landed a 7-0 stanza of wins, while the frosh-soph boys went 6-1.
The varsity boys were paced by a top time from Mario Jimenez (15th, 19 minutes, 20 seconds) on the 5,000-meter course.
Liz Erwin led the varsity girls with an eighth place finish and 23:47 time on the same course.
Mike Chapin (seventh), Denise Thompson (first) and Alexis Halsey (second) led the frosh-soph programs.
“We are learning a lot each meet we compete in,” Oakdale coach Guy Fowler said. “We have to have a better (varsity) performance at the next VOL Cluster meet if we want to be in the top three in league.
“I am very pleased with the frosh-soph girls team. They just keep running and do not worry about anything else.”
