It is Homecoming Week at Oakdale High School, and along with all the school spirit, the parade, the painting of windows around town, action will also take place on the football field twice this week. Oakdale’s varsity football team will host East Union on Friday night, but 48 hours prior the junior and senior female students will face off in the annual OHS Powder Puff Football Game.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 12 at The Corral.

Last year the seniors defeated the juniors 33-0 and this year’s junior girls are looking to upset the seniors.

“In soccer you have to be aggressive and go for the ball, Wednesday night I will be aggressive on the football field,” said junior Karla Sanchez.

Sanchez is scheduled to be a linebacker for the juniors.

“This will only work if we all play as a unit. This week we have put in the hard work and look forward to the game,” Sanchez added.

On the other side are the seniors. The seniors are taking a calm approach to the game and are looking forward to taking the field for the final time.

“It’s such a great thing to come out here and play this game. It is a great way for all of us to get together and play as a class,” senior Maddie Brewer said.

Brewer is multi-sport athlete for Oakdale as she plays tennis and softball.

“Honestly, in my opinion, we just need to come back from the loss we took last year, and win big this year,” Brewer added. “I think we can do it too.”
