OHS Cross Country Leaves Competition In The Dust

The Valley Oak League’s first cross country meet of the season was hosted at Legion Park in Modesto on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and featured an outstanding effort from the Oakdale Mustangs.

“We had a really good day and kids competed well. We have few things to work on to get better,” said coach Guy Fowler. “Today we were the best overall program in the league and we will have to work hard to maintain that. I am excited for the next meet.”

The varsity boys were paced by Isaiah Aguilar (second overall) in 17:36 and Octavio Padilla (ninth) in 18:25. Anna Perrone (sixth) 22:11, was the leader for the varsity girls, followed closely by Kyannah Hernandez (eighth) 22:32.

Tops for the JV boys were Kyle Eichma (second) 21:21, Kurtis Bishop (sixth) 22:05 and leaders for the JV girls were Esmeralda Salcedo (fifth) 28:06 and Sarah Sorenson (eighth) 28:30.

Frosh/soph boys were paced by Russell Pabalan (third) 11:43 and James Forkner (ninth) 12:27 with Hannah Sudaria (fourth) 15:16 and Francesca Immediato (fifth) 15:17, leading the frosh/soph girls.

The varsity boys now stand at 5-2 and the varsity girls at 6-1, with the JV boys, frosh/soph boys and frosh/soph girls all a perfect 7-0.The JV girls are 6-1.
