The week between Christmas and New Year is always busy on the basketball court for the Mustangs.

Oakdale will host its 44th annual Rotary Classic Basketball Tournament, with both the JV and varsity boys basketball teams in action. Games will begin on Thursday, Dec. 26 and run through Saturday, Dec. 28 in the classic.

For the varsity bracket, games start at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 with Downey taking on Pitman in the opener. Los Banos and Ripon Christian play at 5 p.m., with Ceres and Grace Davis at 6:30 p.m.

Host Oakdale will take on Trans-Valley League team Hughson in the 8 p.m. contest on Dec. 26.

Friday games, Dec. 27 will run at the same times, with the pairings based on the Thursday contest outcomes. The seventh place game will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, consolation championship at 5 p.m., with the third place game at 6:30 p.m. and the championship game at 8 p.m.

In the junior varsity bracket, competition begins with a Thursday morning game at 9:30 a.m., Los Banos vs. Ripon Christian, followed by Riverbank and Grace Davis at 11 a.m., Downey vs. Pitman at 12:30 p.m. and host Oakdale taking on Hughson at 2 p.m.

The JV teams will continue play on Friday, based on the Thursday scores, and then play a full slate on Saturday, with the championship game at 2 p.m.
