OHS Mustangs

The 2018 school year came to a close on Friday night, and for some Oakdale High School athletes, so did their track and field season. The two day CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters began on Thursday and concluded on Friday night at Elk Grove High School.

Highlighting the effort for the Mustangs were the throws teams. Both the boys and girls had impressive outings. Senior Jorge Barajas placed third overall in the boys shotput. Barajas finished his high school career with a throw of 51-07. On Thursday, Barajas placed 12th in discus and did not qualify for Friday’s finals. In girls action Valerie Osborne finished fifth in discus with a throw of 125 feet. Emma Harper placed sixth overall in the event with a throw of 124-02. Rounding out the big day in throws was Jessica Jericoff placing seventh. Her best throw of the day went 123-07.

Kyndall Green placed fifth in pole vault with a clearance of 10 feet, five inches. Sophomore Kayden Legan completed her impressive season when she finished 15th in the grueling 3200 meter race. Legan completed the race in 11:24.88.

Also making the trip but not advancing to Friday’s finale was senior Cassie England. She competed in three events. England placed 18th in both the high jump and triple jump and 20th in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Oakdale boys 4x100 relay team came in 18th on Thursday. The team consisted of Jay Hummer, Zeke Saffar, Hunter Falconi and Josh Jacobson. Cameron Burke placed 13th overall in the 300 meter boys hurdles.
