Lady Mustangs Soccer Drops Sixth Straight

Since winning their only league game of the season on Jan. 17, the varsity girls soccer team has now dropped six straight league games. Oakdale’s (3-15-0, 1-10-0) latest struggles were a 7-0 road loss to Sierra (19-2-0, 10-1-0) on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and a 3-1 road loss to Lathrop (4-9-0, 4-7-0).

In the loss to Sierra, Oakdale fell behind 3-0 early and allowed four second half goals to the first place Timberwolves. Three Wolves scored two goals each against the struggling Lady Mustangs. Two nights later the girls visited Lathrop to battle the Spartans. Junior Viviana Albor scored Oakdale’s lone goal.

On Tuesday evening Feb. 7 seven seniors were honored for Senior Day 2017. The festivities were held following The Leader’s press time prior to the home game against Weston Ranch (1-14-1, 0-11-0) inside The Corral. Seniors Isabella Cobarruvias, Amelia Hernandez, Alyssa Rowe, Nadia Kennemore, Megan Miller, Makenzie Perez and Marisela Nichols were all honored for their commitment and contributions at Oakdale High in the soccer program.

Oakdale finishes the season on the road against Kimball (6-13-1, 4-6-1) on Thursday, Feb. 9 and at Central Catholic (11-4-2, 8-2-1) on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Both games are slated for 6:30 p.m.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

A pair of road games for the junior varsity squad saw mixed results. On Tuesday, Jan. 31 the girls suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Sierra Timberwolves. Two days later the JV girls bounced back in a big way with a 6-0 victory over the Lathrop Spartans. Finding the net for Oakdale were Emily Takaki, Jocelyn Pulido, Payton Bohannon, Mariyn Waterman, Alexandrea Casillas and Hailey Moore.
