Lady Mustang Soccer Drops Two Of Three

The varsity girls soccer team’s high-powered offense seemed to run out of gas this past week. Oakdale played three games and failed to score goals in two of them, losing 2-0 to Manteca and 2-0 to Sierra. However, the girls managed to put together a 4-2 road win over East Union in between those losses.

After being blanked 2-0 by first place Manteca (14-1-1, 5-0-1), Oakdale (10-5-2, 3-3) traveled to East Union (9-4-0, 3-3-0) to take on the Lancers.

Senior Madison Feuerstein scored three goals for the Lady Mustangs and dished out an assist to sophomore Viviana Albor in the win. In 17 games, Feuerstein has 38 points on 16 goals and six assists for the Lady Mustangs in 2016. The forward ranks first in goals in the Valley Oak League, second in the Valley Oak League in points behind Manteca’s Jadyn Shinn with 39, and is tied with teammates Bailey Antonio and Megan Burke with six assists. Senior Melissa Ibarra played goalkeeper throughout the entire match against East Union, recording five saves for the Lady Mustangs.

Sitting in fourth place in the Valley Oak League, Oakdale has plenty of time to gain ground in the playoff race. With eight games remaining on the 2016 schedule, the Lady Mustangs hosted third place Central Catholic (8-2-1, 4-1-1) on Monday, April 11 to kick off a four game homestand. Oakdale will host Kimball (4-5-5, 2-4-0) on Wednesday, April 13. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
