Three matches filled the schedule for the Oakdale girl golfers this past week and they won each of them. The team improved to 14-0 on the season with wins over Weston Ranch, Manteca and Kimball.
On Tuesday, Oct. 10 the girls knocked off Weston Ranch 201-355. Madi Blanc sat on top of the leaderboard with a score of 35, on par 36. Taylor Stewart finished two strokes behind her at 37. Makayla Christiansen (41), Andrea York (43) and Shealyn Hanrahan (45) capped off the afternoon for Oakdale at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. That same day, Katie Holmes was honored for Senior Night. Holmes shot a personal best 52 as the team’s sixth golfer. Holmes’ 52 was lower than all six of the Weston Ranch golfers.
The next day the team traveled to Manteca to face the Buffaloes in nine hole action. Oakdale won by 54 strokes, 223-277 for the team’s 13th win of the season. Leading the way for Oakdale was Christiansen at 43 strokes. Stewart, Blanc and Allie Denning each shot 44 on the day. Hanrahan finished at 48 on the day.
Oakdale officially ran the table in the Valley Oak League when they defeated Kimball on Friday afternoon. The girls won the finale with a 219-254 victory. Stewart finished the day with a 41 to lead all golfers. Blanc (42), Christiansen (44), York (45) and Denning (47) completed the day for Oakdale.
The Lady Mustangs hope to win their first VOL title since 2005. To do so, the team must place well in the 2017 VOL Championship Tournament that was played on Monday and Tuesday following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale Golf and Country Club will host the 2017 D-III Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23 and 24.
