Lady Mustang golfers have had a memorable season. The young group that consists of freshmen and sophomores won the Valley Oak League title for the first time in over a decade. On Monday, Oct. 24 the girls packed up their clubs and headed to Serrano Country Club, in El Dorado Hills. The girls played 18 holes and competed in the 2016 Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Tournament. As a team, Oakdale shot 462 for a second place finish. Oakdale’s 462 was nine strokes off the leader, Christian Brothers, but secured Oakdale’s spot in the CIF Masters at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Leading the way for Oakdale was Madison Blanc’s 86, three strokes behind the third qualifier as an individual. Two strokes behind Blanc was Taylor Stewart (88). Makayla Christiansen finished with 95 strokes for Oakdale. One stroke behind her was Andrea York. Not far behind them were Allie Denning (97) and Chloe Liekhus (102).

The Masters was held on Monday, Oct. 31 following The Leader’s deadline. Full results of the Masters will be featured in the Nov. 9 edition.
