In a week where individuals struggled to produce one tremendous performance, the collective efforts of Oakdale High’s girls tennis team stood out the most. Facing two of the best teams in the league, Oakdale erupted onto the Valley Oak League schedule with one-sided victories over Weston Ranch and Kimball.

The team bested Weston Ranch 8-1 and Kimball 7-2 to stake the first serious claim for a conference title run. The wins put Oakdale in a great position to move toward the postseason and lift the Lady Mustangs into the limelight as a contender for the VOL championships.

The team earns a collective Athlete of the Week nod from The Leader for its efforts.
