The Oakdale High School Rodeo team sent their entire roster to the Challenge of Champions in Clovis from March 25 to 27, where Mustang sophomore Colton Farquer proved why he is regarded as one of the brightest young stars in California rodeo today.

Farquer’s 12.89 and 13.01 second times nabbed him first place honors in the tie-down roping division against nine competing district qualifiers.

The District 5 star was also top-ten in cutting, and nabbed Oakdale’s best finish at the season-ending competition.

Farquer earns Athlete of the Week honor from The Leader for his tremendous season on the high school rodeo stage.

His next two years of prep competition and continued involvement in the sport will be of interest as he continues to improve his craft.
