Senior Kayden Legan ran a 19:21 on the 5k State Meet course on Saturday, Nov. 30. She closed out her high school cross country career with the state appearance.

Putting together their best efforts ever on the CIF State Cross Country course in Fresno, Oakdale’s Kayden Legan and Hannah Beth Norman wrapped up their seasons on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Running in the Division III State Meet, they both set personal best times on the 5k course.

Legan, a senior, finished in 37th place in 19:21 while Norman, a sophomore, ran the course in 20:14 to place 94th in the race.

Both of the times were the fastest the two athletes have run on the course at Woodward Park in Fresno.

“(Coach) Vic Moreno and myself are extremely pleased how the girls finished their season. Both running the best they ever have on this challenging course is awesome,” said head coach Guy Fowler.

For Legan, it was the finale of her high school cross country career.

“It is a little bittersweet to say goodbye to Kayden who has had an amazing four years on the team. We will definitely miss her next year but we still have track season,” noted Fowler.

Legan was a four-time All-VOL selection, four time section qualifier, two time state qualifier and won two league team championships.

“As for Hannah Beth, we are excited to have another two years with her but what a great sophomore year she had; league champion, second time qualifying for sections, first time for qualifying for state and her second league team championship,” Fowler said. “Both girls are amazing, trained hard and produced when it counted.”

Now, the coaching staff will start getting ready for track season and planning for the 2020 cross country campaign.

“Vic and I want to thank all for the support we have received this year,” added Fowler.
