Wahnita D. Reid, 91, of Copperopolis died Thursday, March 10 after a short illness.

She was born in Los Angeles to Warren and Gertie Bowen. She was one of nine siblings. At age four, her family homesteaded a place in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains above Victorville.

Mrs. Reid was a longtime member of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club before moving to Copperopolis and enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her friends. She was an avid walker and loved nothing more than walking with her little dog.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Jerry) Nation, Barbara Cheney, both of Copperopolis; sisters, Pat Haller of Utah, Olive Corrington of Running Springs, Bonnie Post of Hesperia; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Reid; son, Edwin Reid; her parents; brothers, Gordon Bowen, Glenn Bowen, Roy Bowen, Jack Bowen; sister, Sylvia Bowen; and granddaughter, Shari Cook.

Per her request, services will be private.
