Tom Orr Brennan, 92, died Thursday, Oct. 24.

He was born in Oakdale. He lived on a ranch near Oakdale with his parents Tom and Edith Brennan and his two brothers Jack and Pat. He attended Rosedale Grammar School, Oakdale High School, lettering in football and track, and the University of San Francisco. He married the love of his life, Eleanor Taylor in 1943.

Mr. Brennan served in World War II as a pilot in the U.S. Army and Navy Air Force. Upon his return from WWII, he engaged in ranching and was employed by the County of Stanislaus for over 20 years as Superior Courts Administrator/Jury Commissioner.

He was active in the community where he served on the school board for more than 20 years, was president of Oakdale Sportsman’s Club, active in the VFW and American Legion, coached his three sons’ Little League teams, and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He had a passion for hunting, fishing and flying. He spent his retirement years enjoying these activities with his many family members and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Anne (Alan) Strom; sons, Tom Jr. (Erin), John, and Michael Brennan; grandchildren, Melanie Parker, Brad Brennan, Heather Grandstaff; great-grandchildren, Jace and Reid Grandstaff; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor (Taylor) Brennan; parents, Thomas and Edith (Orr) Brennan; brothers, Jack and Pat Brennan; and grandson, Bryan Parker.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 W. F St.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oak and Olive streets, Oakdale. A reception will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
