Sheila (Ayers) Arellano passed of natural causes on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Modesto, CA at the age of 85 years.

   Sheila was born May 18, 1929 in Brawley, CA. She resided in Escalon, CA for 58 years with her husband of 67 years, Peter Arellano.

   Sheila has three children, George Arellano of Hong Kong, Tina (Gale) Jensen of Oakdale and Bahrt (Caroline Orille) Arellano of Albany.

   One sister Sharon Tonegato of Sonora.

   Grandchildren Kim (Jeff) Theisen of Sanger; Craig (Denise) Berchtold, Holly (Scott) Page, Jeremy (Lindsay) Jensen of Escalon; Heidi (Richard) Rech of San Francisco; Cortez Arellano & Vincent Arellano of Albany.

  Great-Granchildren Kelsie and Callie Theisen, Trenton and Emma Berchtold, Madelyn and Colton Page, Olivia and Vivian Jensen.

   Sheila’s passions were family, community and writing. Sheila proudly worked as the Assistant Editor for the Escalon Times for over 30 years. After retiring, Sheila continued to write for the Escalon Times sharing her life experiences, her family’s adventures and the lives of many Escalon alumni through her heartfelt and jovial newspaper articles.

   Sheila was very involved in the Escalon Community in a wide array of activities to include serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce for two terms, Historical Society, Escalon City Committee, Red Hats,   Catholic YLI, AFS host family to international students, actor in Readers Theater, retired Teachers Aide at Dent Elementary and El Portal Middle School, Escalon Soroptimist Group, Stockton County Fair Escalon Exhibit Chair for over 20 years, she was honored as Citizen of the Year and selected as Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon along with her husband Pete. In recent years, she started the Escalon Low Vision Support Group, Hosted Bingo lunch with seniors twice monthly and continued to be an acting Ambulance Board member.

   Sheila was an amazing person, she loved to chat and she had a wonderful sense of humor that could always bring forth laughter in those around her. Sheila was a very caring Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a dear friend to many.  Sheila was truly one of a kind and her joyous, loving and generous spirit will be enormously missed by all who knew her, especially her family.

   Services are being held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10am at St. Patrick’s Church, Escalon.
