Michael Wayne Thompson, 58, died Friday, Jan. 11 at Memorial Medical Center with family at his bedside.

He was a resident of Oakdale since the age of seven. He was a graduate of Oakdale High School, and remained a loyal Mustangs fan, attending football, basketball, and baseball games each season.

Mr. Thompson also enjoyed following the San Francisco 49ers and Giants teams. He played for the Stray Dogs softball team and considered his teammates family.

He was a friendly, caring person, and always greeted people with a kind word and a big smile. He was a loving brother, uncle, and son. His family will miss his fun-loving nature, playful sense of humor, and handsome blue eyes. He will be lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his brothers, Joe (Ruth) Bughi of Turlock, Dick Bughi of Ceres, Paul (Laura) Bughi of Houston, Texas, Dave (Pam) Thompson of Oakdale; niece and caregiver, Christi Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Thompson; sister, Lynda Woodard; and sister-in-law, Norma Bughi.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the home of Dave and Pam Thompson.
