Melvin Halfmoon, Sr., 88, died Saturday, April 10 at Oak Valley Hospital.
He was a native of Oklahoma. He lived in Oakdale 49 years.
Mr. Halfmoon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a cattle rancher for 49 years.
Survivors include his children, Melvin Halfmoon, Jr. and Gary Halfmoon, both of Oakdale; sister, Patsy Johnson Halfmoon of Oklahoma; brothers, Alfred Halfmoon of Kansas, Freddy Halfmoon and James Squirrel, both of Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 16 at the chapel. Burial will be at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
