MaryAlice was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 22, 1924, to Walter Edgar Green and Lucy Josephine Murdock, the third of five children. MaryAlice received a full ride scholarship to the University of Chicago at the age of 16, and upon graduating with a degree in French Literature, attended the Goodman Theatre. She married Carl J. Hawks of Inglewood, California on June 29, 1946. They lived in Maywood, Rivera, and LaMirada, California before moving to Oakdale in 1962. They had four children, Lenore Renee, Valerie Diane, Carl Robert, and Colleen Joanne.
MaryAlice was a devoted mother, an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a passionate elementary school teacher and reading specialist, and enjoyed playing the piano, reading, writing poetry and crocheting.
She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1111 East A St., Oakdale, CA.
