John Joseph Terry, Jr., 81, of Oakdale died Thursday, Aug. 22.

He was born in Oakdale, the son of John and Maria Terry. He grew up in the Oakdale area.

As an adult, he operated the Terry Ranch in Valley Home, raising Hereford cattle. He later managed cattle for the Grange Company near Santa Barbara for a few years, but settled back in this area as foreman for the Kistler Ranches in Valley Home and Jamestown. He also owned and operated K Arrow Ranch Camp in Jamestown until retirement.

His family is grateful to the staff and friends at Dale Commons.

He is survived by his two daughters, Luann (Lary) Gremp of Modesto and Marci Hogan of Hempstead, Texas; sister, Mary (Keith) Handy of San Leandro; nephews, Steve and Greg Handy; JoAnn Terry of Idaho; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved son, Michael.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
