John Luke Freeman, 59, died Monday, Sept. 10 in his sleep at his Oakdale home.

He was born in San Leandro.

He completed all levels of education including two years of graduate school, where he majored in and earned a degree in history. He spoke fluent German and had also studied Greek and Latin.

Mr. Freeman left graduate school to help his mother who was suffering from cancer. He applied at the USPS and remained there 34 years.

In 1984, he married the love of his life Polly. They shared a deep love for one another. He loved being a husband and father. Their son Ben brought them much happiness.

He and his wife retired to Oakdale.

He attended Faith Tabernacle of Oakdale. He enjoyed teaching the adult Sunday School and end time Bible studies. He gave Bible studies in their home and at the church.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Polly; son, Ben (Millie); and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Faith Tabernacle of Oakdale, 120 West Ave.
