Gordon Gaines passed away in Oakdale, CA on September 27, 2020 at the age of 69. Gordon was born on September 5, 1951 in Fresno, CA to Ray and Evie Gaines and grew up in Raisin City, CA. He graduated from Caruthers High School in 1969. In 1976 he married Marilyn and they celebrated 44 years this past August.
He began work at Anderson Clayton Foods where he worked for 20 years. In 1989 he moved to Oakdale to take the position of Utility Operator at the Hershey Chocolate Plant. He began working for Sconza Candy when they came to town and retired this past February.
Gordon was an active member of Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed helping with the ministry as much as possible. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and photography.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Evie Gaines. Gordon is survived by Marilyn Gaines (wife), Timothy Gaines (son) and wife Shawna Songer-Gaines, Renee Gaines (daughter), grandchildren Callen Gaines and Evalynne Gaines and Patricia Martin (sister) and husband Dennis Martin.
Arrangements are entrusted to Oakdale Memorial Chapel. A service will be held on Friday, October 9, 10 a.m. at River Oak Grace Community Church, 7712 Rodden Road, Oakdale, CA followed by a graveside service at Oaklawn Memorial Park, 431 N. Sierra Ave., Oakdale, CA and a fellowship meal at Bloomingcamp’s Ranch, 10528 CA-120, Oakdale, CA.
In lieu of flowers remembrance donations may be sent to Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund, 1700 West F Street, Oakdale, CA 95361.
