Dorothy Skinner, age 82, passed away on November 24, 2016 at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Modesto, California with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on March 22, 1934 in Pasadena, the daughter of the late Raymond Gorham and Anna Doerrer.
Dorothy attended St. Elizabeth’s High School in Oakland and graduated in 1951. Following graduation, she began working at the Alameda Naval Air Station. She resided in San Leandro and Castro Valley, California with her husband, the late James Skinner and their two daughters. She then worked for CalCom Graphics in Berkeley where she worked for over 30 years until she retired and relocated to Oakdale to be closer to her family.
Spending time with family and friends was Dorothy’s delight. She also enjoyed her pets, reading, exercise class at the Senior Center, her Bible study and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Vickie Cordoza (Steven) and Gail Migliore (Greg) of Oakdale, her grandchildren: Kirsten Rodrigues (Paul), Stevie Rae and Zac Cordoza, her great-grandchild: RaeAnn Rodrigues, her niece: Charlene Solis and nephews: Keith Gorham and Richard Gorham and their families of the Bay Area. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and many friends.
Dorothy’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1225 Olive Street in Oakdale. A reception will be held at Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro, 1214 W. F Street in Oakdale, immediately following.
