BETTY ANNETTA OLSEN MENDENHALL
We lost an amazing woman, Betty Annetta Olsen Mendenhall. Betty was born to Roy “Pop” and Bessie Olsen on December 9th, 1918 in Oakland, Ca. She joined her beloved son James Mendenhall and husband Ivor E. Mendenhall in heaven on April 20th, the same day her 15th great-grandchild was born.
Betty grew up in Manteca where her father owned The Creamery.  After graduating from high school they moved to Oakdale where Betty worked at the Oakdale Creamy which was owned by “Pop” and attended Modesto JC.
In June of 1942 she married Ivor and followed him to Washington and then to Nebraska.  While in the military their daughter Janet was born.  After the war they returned to Oakdale then along came Jimmy. They returned to Manteca and had daughter, Jeanne.
In 1958, they moved to San Jose where Betty was a dedicated elementary teacher.  They lived there until retirement when they returned to Oakdale.  Before her vision loss, she was an avid reader, active member of AAUW, the women’s 9-Holer group at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, and  played cards with her bridge group. Betty loved life, her family, and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Janet M. Schautz, Jeanne M. Keller (Peter), daughter –in-law Robin Mendenhall, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Her memorial will be Saturday, April 25th, 10 am at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel 830 West F Street Oakdale, reception to follow.
