Betti Fitzwater, 60, died Thursday, May 29 in Modesto.

She was born the oldest of 18 children on April 14, 1954 in Arizona. She grew up in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School. She was a resident of Oakdale for the past 27 years.

Mrs. Fitzwater was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She found peace when visiting her favorite destination, Pismo Beach. She had a beautiful spirit about her as she was always helpful, patient and kind to everyone she met. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and a very sweet grandmother. She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Steve Fitzwater; loving daughter, Kristal (Richard) McClure; and granddaughters, Kyla, Destiny, and Grace McClure.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4 at P.L. Fry and Son, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.
