The dreaded picture... When I started writing this column over a year ago, I really, really did not want a picture of myself printed! I’ve always enjoyed reading the other columns in The Leader and appreciated the pictures that went along with them. It gives readers a chance to associate names with faces... I guess that I just was not sure a picture could be taken that wouldn’t make my family and friends run for the hills! Even after Oakdale Leader Editor Marg Jackson asked my daughter to send a picture of me in for the column, it still was hard to do! Time has passed and I have appreciated Marg’s patience. So the picture was sent this week... Please no jokes about the big hair, my kids and grandkids do that plenty already! I’ve had it since high school...(a long, long time ago) and I’ll probably die with that big hair. The fact is I am OLD, and I’ve also earned those many wrinkles and many worry lines! Yes even though the years have caught up with me, and my body doesn’t move like it did when I was 20, I enjoy a happy life and enjoy a wonderful family, and the very best of friends and neighbors! I couldn’t ask for more. So here is the picture I dreaded so long... Please think of me kindly as you read future columns... I am not a writer but rather a Valley Home person who dearly loves the community I am blessed to live in.
Please remember your thoughts, comments, and information are always appreciated. If any of you would like to write a column, please know that it would be most welcome!
This week we celebrate the birthdays of three of Valley Home’s most hardworking folks. Melissa Carpenter was surprised by a birthday gathering in her honor in Valley Home last Saturday. Tons of fun was had by all in attendance! Our next birthday girl is the much loved Valley Home school bus driver Bonnie Gellerman. Bonnie was surprised when the entire student body of Valley Home school sang Happy Birthday to her at school on Friday afternoon. Thank you Bonnie for caring so much and taking good care of our Valley Home kids! We hope your birthday was spectacular. Our next birthday celebration honors a very special Valley Home citizen. Lifelong resident and longtime Valley Home rancher Don Taro enjoyed turning 21 again this week! Don works hard for the Valley Home community and is a most treasured and trusted friend to all of us. Our next birthday goes to Kate Hart who has worked hard and spent countless hours of her time on projects within Valley Home. Happy birthday to all, may each of you have many, many happy returns of your special day!
Valley Home students extend a huge welcome to new computer technician Mr. Herrera. Welcome Mr. Herrera, we are glad you are here!
There will be no school for Valley Home students on Monday. September 15th. Enjoy your day off kids!
