With fall upon us, it is time to share one of our most delightful happenings here in Valley Home. Our annual fall scarecrow contest starts October 1st. This contest is a great way to enjoy our beautiful fall season and have some fun with friendly competition. Scarecrows will be judged in 4 categories: 1. Western; 2. Funny; 3. Family; 4. Garden Protector. Entries can be picked up from the General Store, Valley Home School or by calling Cooper Bartholomew at 985-5233 or coming by Cooper's house at 12501 Valley Home Road. Entries can be turned in at these same locations, and must be turned in no later than Friday October 10th. You can enter as an individual, a family, or even a group of neighbors, all are welcome to enter! Entries must be visible from the road as the judges will judge them from the road. Entries will be judged on October 18th. Please note that all entries addressed will be posted in the Valley Home News so that folks can drive by and enjoy them. Prizes will be awarded at the Fall Harvest Festival at Valley Home School on October 25th. We hope everyone will participate and help keep our fall traditions alive in Valley Home.

A fun time was had in Valley Home this past weekend as seventh grader Tyler Furtado celebrated his birthday! Tyler and his friends went to Laser Tag and then camped out overnight at the Furtado Ranch. Everybody had a great time and sends their best wishes to Tyler on many more happy returns of this special day. Happy Birthday Tyler!

Valley Home students received their progress reports this past week. Common core certainly makes for challenging grading, but it is working with the students and they are learning. A special thank you to our great teachers!
