What an exciting week at the Stanislaus County Fair. Yes, it was hot with a capital ‘H’ but much fun was had by all. Our young people showed their FFA, 4 -H and Grange animals and all did an amazing job! It is really awesome to see the work these fine young people put into their prized animals. Congratulations to all.

Our MAC meeting this past Wednesday evening was held at our Valley Home community park. We would like to say thank you to all who braved the heat and came out. We especially appreciate our first responders and county officials who came all the way to Valley Home. We very much appreciate the important information that you shared with us … Mosquito Abatement, Public Works, County Supervisors Office, CHP, Fire Dept., Sheriff’s Dept.; also a huge thank you to Nancy Osmundson for bringing ice cold waters for all. We appreciate you, Nancy! The meeting went well with much information presented. After the meeting, our fire board members stayed and talked with interested folks. Our fire board has several members who live in our Valley Home community, they are working very, very hard to open our Fire Station. They need our help, they need to hear from you, they need to know how many of us want our Fire Station doors open and how many of us feel that it’s worth paying a bit more to get those doors open. For me personally, losing my husband very suddenly on a bright sunny Saturday afternoon to a sudden heart attack; our fire department had to come from in town to try to help us! It’s definitely worth paying more to have them here in Valley Home. Once they were here they did everything possible to save him but precious minutes had gone by. I always wonder if they had been here in Valley Home that day would the outcome have been different. Our family misses him dearly. I don’t won’t this to happen to any of you or your precious families. With a school filled with children in Valley Home and many elderly folks, please let’s work together. Ask questions, share ideas, talk to our fire board members … they are trying hard to find solutions. It is important that both our Valley Home station and our Knights Ferry station are open as well as those in town that so many depend on. Your opinion and your ideas are important!

We are happy to report that the Park Corn Hole Tournament was a wonderful success. A special thank you to Bryan Martin and all who helped with this great fundraiser for our community park! We send a very huge thank you to all who came out and played or enjoyed a meal. It was definitely hot but so much fun. Folks were able to relax in the shade, with the kids and many adults also enjoying time in the splash pad. Truly a wonderful day for all!
