Hi everyone. I hope each of you are having a really nice day.

Our Valley Home Community Park Meeting was held on Monday, April 28 at the park. Reports were given on the well and on our “Love Valley Home Day.”. The Love Valley Home work day will be this Saturday, May 10. Please bring your work tools and be ready to go to work. We will meet at 8am; projects include work at our school and at our park. Big news … our community will be able to once again dump our trash for free into two large dumpsters. The dumpsters will be located at our Valley Home School on the Pioneer campus. Please see the list of items not allowed to be placed in the dumpsters; the list is on Amanda Beltrami’s post on the Valley Home Bulletin Facebook page. Also, at the Valley Home Community Park Meeting, Oakdale Fire Protection District Board President Paul Rivera gave an updated report on possible uses for our Fire House should it ever be vacated. It was a lively discussion with much information available. Modesto Fire was also at the meeting and shared information and answered questions. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting. A special thank you was given to the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors for their wonderful donation to our park, and to St. John’s Lutheran Church for their very generous donation to our park. “Thank You” from the bottom of our hearts.
The next Fire Board meeting will be Thursday, May 8 in Knights Ferry. The meeting will be held at the community hall and will start at 10am. All are encouraged to attend.

I end this column on a very sad note. We send our heartfelt sympathy to the family of rodeo’s legendary cowboy Roy Cooper. Although Roy did not live in Valley Home or Oakdale he touched the lives of many folks in our area. He was a great friend to many here. Many current and former residents were close friends with Roy. The Camarillo brothers were especially close friends to Roy and his family. Roy was a highly respected member of the PRCA for more than two decades. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Heavenly Peace, Roy Cooper.
