Excitement in Valley Home! What a wonderful day, our Halloween Parade in Valley Home! We are so grateful to our Fire Department, our California Highway Patrol and to our Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Our parade this year was dedicated to our much loved “Bonnie” our favorite school bus driver! Our first responders lined the streets on both sides. It was an amazing sight, so many law enforcement officers and firefighters in Valley Home on parade day. Brightly colored yellow bus signs with the words “We love our Bonnie” were placed along the parade route as a tribute to Bonnie. The students who were already back in school, along with students who are still on distance learning were able to attend the Halloween parade, socially distanced! First stop for the parade participants and their teachers was of course our wonderful Valley Home General Store! Susan handed out the perfect Halloween treats, fully sized candy bars. Sue allowed the children to choose their favorite candy bar. It was great to see the excitement on the kids’ faces as they rounded the corner. First responders greeted them with candy and treats for all! Law Enforcement and Firefighters with lights flashing, tons of smiles and friendly waves made the kids feel like life was normal, at least for a few minutes. At the end of the parade, CHP officers, Tom Olsen and Eric Moore presented Bonnie’s sister, Patti with a very special CHP cancer patch for Bonnie.

Bonnie came home for a few days and was able to come to the park for our “Prayer in the Park” for her, and since has returned for treatment at the City of Hope in Southern California. Since Bonnie was not able to attend the Halloween parade this year, Valley Home students, teachers, school staff and parents are sending her tons of love every day! This past weekend the most beautiful, soft and comfy blanket was sent to Bonnie from our community. We offer a very special Thank You to Angelica Mc Curley and her amazing family!
