We start this week’s column with exciting news! Laura Charles, mother, grandmother, and alumni of Valley Home School, competed in the Ironman 70.3 in Coeur d’Alene Idaho on June 24th. She is the daughter of Patty and Jim Charles, and the niece of Valley Home bus driver Bonnie. This was her second time competing in the Ironman! Last year she traveled to Utah and did the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run. She was absolutely amazing! We are so proud of her. Her dad was cheering her on from above.

We would like to send a very heartfelt thank you to Mr. Cary Taylor who (on his own time) helped park board member Mr. Don Taro make several repairs to the sprinkler system at our little community park! The lawn was parched, with several dry spots due to sprinklers that had to be repaired. To all those who use the park and pick up their garbage, or do anything to keep our little park looking nice, you are appreciated! Sorry to write this, but to those of you who are deliberately abusing our park, sprinkler system, etc. shame on you! This beautiful little park belongs to each of us and we are very proud!

We end this column with very exciting news, Pamela (Barnhill) Moore will share her story about growing up in Valley Home. Her great grandfather came from Nebraska, helping to settle the beautiful little community of Thalheim, which later would become Valley Home! Pammie has written a firsthand version of the history of our beautiful community! We are so excited to share some of the amazing highlights from her story with you over the next few weeks. On Tuesday, August 7th, during our National Night Out celebration, Pammie will share her complete story and visit with new and old friends at our little Valley Home Community Park. Please make plans to come enjoy this special evening! More info to come.
