Thursday Court Date For Homicide Suspect

Stephen Frederick

A 28-year-old Oakdale man, Stephen Frederick, has a scheduled court appearance set for Thursday, Nov. 12 in connection with the September shooting death of Katrina Allen.

Frederick was taken into custody on Wednesday morning, Nov. 4 in Oakdale at about 11 a.m., as the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Office SWAT team closed in on a house in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue.

Allen, 39, was also from Oakdale and authorities arrested Frederick on suspicion of her murder.

A short stretch of Poplar, between North First and Pinkston avenues, was closed off as the SWAT team called to Frederick, urging him to come out of the house with his hands up. He was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail.

The arrest stemmed from a case first investigated in late September.

On the evening of Sept. 26, 2020 Oakdale Police Department was dispatched to Oak Valley Hospital for a report of a female with a gunshot wound; the victim was in the emergency room. Allen was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Early the next morning, Stanislaus Sheriff’s detectives learned that Allen had been shot in the 2300 block of Twildo Road, east of Oakdale, and took over the homicide investigation.

Detectives continued to work the case and were able to identify Frederick as the shooter. When they learned that Frederick was at a residence on Poplar Street, the SWAT team moved in to make the arrest. He is being held without bail.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Detective Silva at 209-525-7091.
