Taking a 17-9-2 overall record with them, Oakdale’s varsity soccer girls are headed to Cosumnes River College in Sacramento on Saturday, March 1.

The number 5 seed Lady Mustangs will do battle against the number two seed Roseville Tigers for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 blue banner, in a match that starts at 11 a.m.

Oakdale, 9-1-2 for a second-place finish in the Valley Oak League, got to the finals by defeating number 12 seed Buhach Colony in the opener by a 3-1 score. Quarterfinal action saw them edge past number four Del Campo, 1-0, then they earned a 3-0 win over number eight Christian Brothers in the semifinal round. Christian Brothers had upset top seed Sierra, which won the Valley Oak League title, in a 6-5 shootout in the quarterfinals.

Roseville, 13-0-4 overall, went 8-0-4 to take second in their league. They defeated Burbank 3-0 in the opening round, defeated number seven Pioneer 2-0 in the quarters and got past number three Colfax, 1-0, in the semifinals.

The teams are ready to square off for the Section title, both coming in with some solid playoff victories and looking for one more.
