Sober Grad Preparations Coming Down To Wire
OM

The end of the school year party for seniors, Sober Grad Night, is currently being planned and put together for the Oakdale High School graduating Class of 2022. The fun filled night will be staged on Friday, May 27 with the doors opening at 10 p.m. and running until 5 a.m., with all activities at Sierra View Elementary School.

The doors will close at 11 p.m. keeping graduates inside the area until the event is over unless a parent needs to come and sign out the student.

“The town is really rallying together and helping us out with a lot of donations, it is really amazing,” Sober Grad Night Coordinator Sandi Casey said.

Tickets for seniors planning to attend are $60 and can be purchased in the front office with Rosie at the high school, or during graduation practice.

Featured fun activities throughout the night will include Henna and airbrush tattoos, a casino room, a dance room, movies, laser tag and the highly anticipated hypnotist show.

The Oakdale Sports Boosters are coming together to prep and cook the food but the event is always in need of volunteers to help cook throughout the night.

Goodie bags filled with coupons from Carl’s Jr., Mountain Mikes, Sconza, and Texas Road House will be handed out as the students leave, making sure every student receives a gift to take home.

Grand prizes are still to be determined and will be handed out during the raffle portion of the night. Several ‘big ticket’ items are expected to be among the giveaways.

“This is the last night the kids will have with each other, this is their last chapter in their high school book,” Casey stated. “It is 100 percent for the kids, even if we have extra money at the end of the night we literally hand it out to the students.”

The need for volunteers is ongoing, having multiple time slots available to choose from beginning as early as 9 p.m. and ending as late as 7 a.m.

Money and gift donations are also being accepted currently until the evening of the event.

All questions on tickets, volunteers, or locations to drop off donations can be obtained by contacting Sandi Casey by text or call her at 209-606-4311.

Updates on the event are also posted constantly on the OHS Sober Grad Night Facebook page, where questions can also be asked and answered through Messenger.
