Oakdale Mayor Cherilyn Bairos has put out a call for volunteers: she is looking for a few community residents to join her in wishing some area senior citizens a very happy holiday season.

“We want to spread some Christmas cheer,” Bairos said of the effort aimed at brightening the holidays for those older residents that might otherwise be alone or without the family that can’t travel to be with them.

The holiday cheer campaign is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 23, said Bairos, with a couple of special guests expected to join in as well. Festivities begin at 2 p.m., and all age volunteers are welcome.
