The relationship between the victim and the suspects remained under investigation, as does the motive for the attack.

At press time, Staudenmaier remained in jail with bail set in excess of $2 million. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 13.

The Oakdale Police Department, in a statement released regarding the case, thanked the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in making the arrest.
