The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 4. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 4

Battalion 5: Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 conducted Captain training with an Engineer who is in the Captain Testing process.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 3

Battalion 2: Crews completed EMS inventory.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 2

Battalion 2: Firefighter Perales completed his 5 ALS Calls.

Battalion 5: Crews completed apparatus and equipment checks, along with station maintenance.

10:17 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to the intersection of F Street and Oak for a vehicle versus pedestrian. On scene crews treated one patient with major injuries. Once Oak Valley arrived the patient was quickly transported to a local trauma center.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 31

The training division held third quarter EMS training at Station 17 for all MST companies. This quarter’s session focused on CPR, review of policies and cardiac arrest scenarios.

The training division continues work at the RFTC developing the technical rescue site

Battalion 2: 12:29 p.m. – Engine 29, Brush 23, and BC3 responded to a vegetation fire on Geer Road near Jantzen. Half an acre of vegetation on the roadside was burned.

Battalion 5: Crews completed apparatus and equipment checks, along with station maintenance.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 30

MST crews attended third quarter EMS training at Station 17 focusing on CPR.

Battalion 2: The Fire Warden’s Office completed the reimaging of MDCs. The computers now stay connected, and their AVLs continue to track.

All firefighters from Academy 2022-02 successfully passed their 10-month written test.

XST 4200C assigned to the day shift in Division K on the Happy Camp Complex. Assisted with firing operations.

Battalion 5: Crews completed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 29

Battalion 2: 11:35 p.m. – Engine 23, Water Rescue 18, and 24 responded to a missing subject on the Tuolumne River. The subject was last seen in an inner tube, five hours prior in Waterford and was not wearing a life jacket. Air 101 also assisted; they launched from the airport and began a search. WR18 launched from Fox Grove and located the subject upriver from their launch point, and she was safely returned to Fox Grove. The crews did a fantastic job coordinating the search and locating the missing person in less than 25 minutes in the dark.

Battalion 5: Engine 28 and Engine 29 conducted training on various low angle rescue equipment.

Engine 28 and BC5 conducted Captain training with an Engineer who is currently a Captain Candidate in the promotional process.
