River Oak

Concert Series

The first of the Friday night summer concerts hosted at River Oak Grace Church is set for this week, when Building 429 performs on Friday, June 24. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $25 at the gate, cash only. Online ticket purchases can be made until midnight, June 23 for a reduced cost. Those planning to attend are asked to bring low rise beach chairs and blankets for seating. Children 2 and under are admitted free. Call for more information, 209-847-9428. Tribute To Singer-

Songwriter Cash

Travel in Good Company in Oakdale invites all country music fans to come together on Saturday, July 9 for an afternoon of good old-fashioned fun at James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash at Lodi’s Hutchins Street Square Performing Arts Theater. James Garner and his backup band recount the life of Johnny Cash through story and song. Cost is $69 per person, which includes transportation to the show, a great seat for the performance, box lunch and snacks served on board the bus. Hospice Fundraiser

The California Trucking Association – San Joaquin Unit will host its 15th annual Truckin’ for Hospice fundraiser on Saturday, June 25 to raise money for two local nonprofit hospice organizations, Community Hospice and Hospice of San Joaquin. Riders enjoy a one-of-a-kind motorcycle poker run through the Sierra foothills with unique stop locations providing appetizing food, refreshing beverages and great raffle prizes as well as a Grand Raffle Prize. Even if you are not a rider, everyone is encouraged to participate; you can also drive your car or truck or join all the riders at the final stop for a BBQ, Truck Show and Raffle. Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 29.
