The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce welcomed spring with a fun event, Explore Oakdale, on Thursday, April 15, with 15 local businesses participating where shoppers had the opportunity to win raffle prizes while discovering new or established businesses within Oakdale.
Chamber staff created a booklet that included a map of all the participating locations, advertising, and special discounts reserved for Explore Oakdale shoppers, which could be purchased for $10.
Participants had to visit all the participating locations in order to qualify for the grand prize valued at $200. Receipts from purchases made at any participating location made the participants eligible for a $100 cash prize.
Oakdale Chamber Chief Executive Officer, Trisha Brown was pleased with the turnout, saying, “Our main focus was to gain awareness and new customers for our participating locations. We had over 40 patrons attempting to visit all 15 business locations for their chance to win a grand prize compiled by our Chamber Board of Directors of several gift certificates for 10 Oakdale businesses totaling over $300. There were over 35 purchases made during the event and tons of fun.”
Following the success of Explore Oakdale, Chamber staff is busy preparing for their next big event, the 13th annual Taste of Oakdale, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance ($25 at the door) and are available for purchase online, or at Oakdale Chamber of Commerce office, 590 N. Yosemite Ave., Oakdale.
According to coordinators, this year’s Taste of Oakdale – Eat, Sample, and Explore – will be their first traveling event, which will offer an excellent opportunity for Oakdale establishments to introduce new culinary choices, and offer new customers a chance to explore the local dining scene.
