Modesto gas prices have fallen 4.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.34 Monday, Sept. 16, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations. Gas prices in Modesto are 8.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and stand 7.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.05 on Sept. 16 while the most expensive was $3.79, a difference of 74 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state was $2.97 while the highest was $4.99/gallon, a difference of $2.02. The cheapest price in the entire country on Sept. 16 stood at $1.80 while the most expensive was $4.99, a difference of $3.19/gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.55/gallon. The national average is down 6.5 cents per gallon from a month ago, and stands 28.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.39/gallon, down 4.3 cents from last week’s $3.43; Oakland - $3.62, down 3.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.65; and San Jose - $3.57, unchanged from last week’s $3.57/gallon.
