Residents of Oakdale will be voting for mayor and to fill two City Council seats during the November 2014 election. Since the filing period to run for office opened on July 14, only three individuals announced their intentions to run for elected office.

Mayor Pat Paul is seeking re-election to the Mayor’s seat and appears to be running unopposed. Two residents, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Cherilyn Bairos and Traffic Commission Member J.R. McCarty have already filed and qualified to seek a seat on the City Council. Both Bairos and McCarty ran unsuccessfully in 2012

Both incumbents, Michael Brennan and Farrell Jackson, have openly stated they do not plan to run for re-election.

On Friday, Aug. 8, City Manager Bryan Whitemyer announced that since no incumbent had filed to run in the November 2014 election, the filing period for the two open 4-year term city council seats is extended until Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m.

To pull nomination papers, contact Kathy Teixeira, City Clerk, at (209) 845-3570 during the extended filing period beginning. Since the process to complete nomination papers takes approximately one hour, potential candidates are required to make an appointment with the City Clerk.
