Modesto Junior College has scheduled an emergency response exercise for staff this Friday, Sept. 20, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave. The event will not disrupt classes or campus operations.
The functional exercise provides training for MJC’s Crisis Response Team members and Child Care Emergency Service volunteers on disaster response and tests the college’s Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan. As part of the training drill, MJC management will practice activating and operating an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on East Campus.
The emergency preparedness drill will involve a simulated bomb threat in Glacier Hall and MJC’s Crisis Response Team will practice assisting Campus Safety in setting up for a campus evacuation. Part of the exercise will be to test an evacuation of MJC’s Child Development Center to an off-site location.
Modesto Police Department will also be participating in the simulation by testing their response with supervisory personnel. Evaluators from other agencies will assist the college by observing the exercise in the field and in the EOC and providing feedback at the end of the drill.
