At the MAC meeting California Highway Patrol Officer Daniels spoke to the lack of stopping at the stop signs and he has been camping out and the problem seems to be solved. Brian Sutton, Animal Control Officer, told of 14 citations in the area. Raul Mendez, MAC Coordinator for Stanislaus County, told of the time line for elections. There will be two seats open, with Kasandra Ingram giving up her seat because they are moving. No major events were reported by the Sheriff Department. Thanks go out to the Army Corp for hiring a weekend sheriff to help patrol the parks. A report on the T.A.N.C. high power line corridor was given, with a web site, stoptanc.com, for those opposed. Also the North Corridor (Kiernan) was talked about, with a July 23 presentation at the next MAC meeting. This by-pass would empty into the Highway by Lover’s Leap.

The Knights Ferry School Board approved the 2009-2010 budget, but they expect later hits to school funding. The next board meeting will be July 7th because of vacations.

Bill Frias is recuperating from back surgery where they unblocked a nerve. He is feeling much better! Hurry and mend!

Maureen McKibban has returned from visiting her daughter, Kate, and son-in-law Graeme, in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Highlight was the trip to the dump! They do not have municipal garbage service, only private contractors, but they are heavy into recycling. The town dump is really a big recycling center with bins for everything from the different types of glass to books and furniture. Maureen says it was quite an experience. She also went to Plymouth to see Plymouth Rock, which had been moved in 1930 so people could view it up close. They went to Plimoth (old spelling) Plantation where life in the colonies was reenacted. She also helped Kate pick out tile for the renovation on their farmhouse.

The Knights Ferry community club picnic in the park is Thursday, July 2nd at 6 p.m. in the pecan grove of the Knights Ferry Recreation Area. The club provides hot dogs, chips and lemonade. A-L brings desserts and M-Z brings sides and salads. Lee will cook the beans. This is always a fun get together. You do not have to be a member to attend!

Jenna Dickens wants to have day care before and after school for Knights Ferry, to be held at the church. With the Kindergartners starting at 10 a.m. some might find day care helpful. She needs to know if there is an interest. Please call Jenna at 847-0728 with your thoughts.

The cook at the River’s Edge, Miguel, was given a birthday party by all, complete with cake and presents. Ryan Russell and PINO provided the musical entertainment. Friday, July 3rd will be Karaoke night at the River’s Edge. Come and show your talent or just have a good time. It will open at 5 p.m. Wednesday’s buffet is BBQ ribs and chicken.
