Knights Ferry News 5-10-23

Happy Early Mother’s Day to all the moms and to those who do all the “things” that moms take on without the “Mom” title!

When I had students at Knights Ferry School, May was “go” time! There were so many “end of the year” parties, field trips, reward celebrations, graduation or classroom promotions, and of course, planning a way to show our appreciation to the staff. To all the parents and staff members of our Knights Ferry School, keep up the good work! Knights Ferry School will have a new teacher for the 2023-24 school year, Ms. Brittany Prather will teach the first grade.

Plan to attend the Knights Ferry Art Show on May 18 from 3pm-6pm at the Community Club to support the local young artists! Each month the TK-eighth grade students have created a new piece of art sampling various art mediums and learning about a new artist. Mr. Russell’s Junior High Class will host a bake sale to raise money for their eighth grade graduation trip.

There are large electronic signs coming near the River Parks warning people that the river is very high and fast at this time! Spread the word to promote safety on or near the river.

The East Stanislaus Fire Safe Council’s Fuel Reduction project is underway! The project has removed quite a bit of brush and fallen tree branches from property edges along the hillside on Cemetery Road in effort to make the area a little safer in the event of a fire. The project is grant funded and is only possible through the efforts of many people involved in the Fire Safe Council. I have never applied for a grant but I have heard it is a lengthy process and requires a fair amount of knowledge and patience! I am grateful that our town is just a little safer as we move into summer.

I almost forgot to share a bit of personal exciting news! On April 27, I graduated from Modesto Junior College and received my Associates Degree in Nursing and will take my Board Exam soon. I am thankful for the love and support from my family and friends while I managed my way through a very difficult nursing program. I am enjoying my break until I start my new position as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at a Modesto hospital.
