It’s not a contest, just a fun event to add a little spookiness to the Halloween holiday.

In Oakdale, it’s the annual Halloween House Drive-By, with homes, businesses, porches, and lawns all able to be decorated for the event.

Sign up by texting Amy Velasco at 209-840-2273 and provide your address and cell number to be added to the drive by list. Decorate your house, business, lawn or porch, and remember that houses will be viewed at night. Leave decorations up from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily during the drive by event, which runs from Friday, Oct. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 31.

Creativity is encouraged; whether you choose to be the coolest, creepiest, cutest, craziest or most terrifying house on the list.

Text Velasco to sign up no later than Monday, Oct. 19 to participate.

The drive by list and a map/viewing route will be publicly posted on Wednesday, Oct. 21 with the viewing starting on Friday, Oct. 23.

This event has been a favorite for the past few years, with multiple residents taking part and sharing the Halloween spirit with those in the community and visitors from outside the area coming in to see the decorations.

All entries must be ready for viewing by Oct. 23.
